TAPP readers

Paying Your Fare Directly At The Turnstile

TAPP readers allow you to pay your fare by tapping your contactless debit, credit or reloadable prepaid card and your digital wallet-enabled smart devices – all while using the contactless payment card or smart device you already have!

TAPP readers do not accept SmartLink or MetroCard. Please continue to use non-TAPP turnstiles when paying with these fare media. TAPP does not accept OMNY.

TAPP Reader Screens

As soon as you tap your contactless debit, credit or reloadable prepaid card, or your digital wallet-enabled smart device at a TAPP reader, it will display a message to confirm if your fare payment tap was successful. In situations where your tap was not successful, or the TAPP reader may not have accepted your tap, different screens appear on the reader to indicate what may have gone wrong.
